What are the advantages of sand casting?

A granular refractory material used in the production of foundry sand and core sand. In the case of using clay as a binder for the sand, approximately 1 tonne of new sand is required for every 1 tonne of qualified castings produced, therefore the largest amount of casting sand is used in sand casting production.

What are the advantages of sand casting?

1. The mold cost of sand casting is relatively low

2. Sand turning is suitable for medium and low volume production

3. sand casting can quickly produce a small batch of the same product in a short period of time

4. The sand casting mold can be large or small, and can produce a single large casting

5. The products of sand foundry are diversified and the production elasticity is high

6. The production of sand casting can be mechanized or manual.

What is the difference between metal mould casting and sand casting?

sand casting - a method of casting in which the sand is compacted and moulded. It is suitable for the production of castings of various shapes, sizes and all common alloys, with low investment in equipment and easily available and inexpensive raw materials.

Metal mould casting - a method of casting in which molten metal is poured into a metal cavity under the influence of gravity.

Process features: the mould must be preheated; the mould must be sprayed with paint; the mould must be opened in time to take the parts.

Advantages: can be a type of multi-casting, saving moulding materials and reduce environmental pollution; process is simple, easy to achieve mechanisation and automation; casting high precision, small surface roughness value, good mechanical properties.

Disadvantages: not easy to cast complex structure, thin-walled or large castings; used for casting steel, cast iron and other high melting point of the alloy, the life of the mold is short; grey cast iron parts are easy to produce white mouth when casting.

Applications: mainly used for batch and mass production of aluminium alloy, copper alloy and other non-ferrous alloys of medium and small castings, such as pistons, cylinder bodies, hydraulic pump housings, shaft tiles, bushings, etc.

What are the production conditions for sand casting?

The production conditions for sand casting should meet the following requirements.

① high purity and cleanliness, in the case of silica sand, for example, the sand for cast iron requires a SiO2 content of over 90%, while larger cast steel parts require a SiO2 content of over 97%.

② sand casting production conditions of raw materials have high refractoriness and thermal stability;

③ sand casting production conditions of the raw material has a suitable particle shape and particle composition;

④The raw materials for the production conditions of sand casting are not easily wetted by liquid metal.

⑤ The raw materials for the production conditions of sand casting are inexpensive and easy to obtain.

FHZL is also the first Chinese enterprise to export the sand 3D printers to the overseas market. It can also meet customers’ demands on different casting process by simply choosing the appropriate parameters.
