What are the production advantages of sand casting?

Sand casting, as the name suggests, is a method of casting in which castings are produced in a sand mould. sand casting is the more common casting process in foundry production, mainly using wood or other metal materials to make casting moulds, and then resin sand grains are placed in the mould to complete the core, followed by melting and forming, cleaning, heat treatment, etc., so that the finished sand casting parts can be obtained.

What are the reasons for choosing to carry out sand casting?

1. Wide choice of materials.sand casting is capable of casting many raw metals, such as steel, iron and most non-ferrous alloys, as long as the metal can be melted, using sand casting can be easily completed.

2. Design flexibility. sand casting is capable of producing castings as small as a few grams and as large as several tonnes, and the size of the parts can be adjusted to the casting requirements. Whether it is a simple or complex shape, or something that cannot be done by other casting methods, sand casting can solve it, and the castings are less restricted.

3. Low production costs. Compared with some other casting methods, sand casting used to the mould and equipment costs are lower, the price is also relatively low.

What should we pay attention to when using sand casting?

A time to the sand box into all the sand and then vibrate, it is easy to cause local sand filling is not tight, so that the casting local sticky sand. From this point of view, sand should be added in batches. Vibrating equipment is not ideal, the corner of the cavity, especially the horizontal hole, the sand is not easy to fill. In addition to improving the vibrating equipment, in this case attention should be paid to filling the sand with manual assistance. The concave part below the foaming mould is difficult to fill. If this is the case, consideration should be given to changing the pouring position of the casting. If this is not possible, consider filling the concave part of the foaming mould with self-hardening sand before placing it in the sand box to fill and vibrate.

What are the production advantages of sand casting?

Sand casting is less costly than other casting methods, with simple production processes and short production cycles. So like the car engine cylinder block, cylinder head, crankshaft and other castings are produced with clay wet sand process. When the wet type can not meet the requirements then consider using clay sand table dry sand type, dry sand type or other sand type. The weight of castings made from clay wet sand can range from a few kilograms up to tens of kilograms, while castings made from clay dry can weigh up to tens of tons. Because of the above advantages of sand casting, its use in the foundry industry is becoming increasingly widespread.

FHZL is also the first Chinese enterprise to export the sand 3D printers to the overseas market. It can also meet customers’ demands on different casting process by simply choosing the appropriate parameters.
