How can we use the cylinder head properly?

The cylinder head is part of the gas distribution mechanism of an internal combustion engine, and is mainly used to close off the top of the cylinder to form the combustion chamber, as well as the camshaft and rocker arm shaft, and the intake and exhaust pipes. Burning the fuel in the cylinder generates the kinetic energy to move the piston back and forth in the engine cylinder, which drives the connecting rod connected to the piston and the crank connected to the connecting rod to make a reciprocating circular motion around the center of the crankshaft and power output.

What are the parameter requirements for cylinder head production?

1. gas pressure

The center of the total force of the gas upward on the cylinder head is in the center of the cylinder head. The cylinder head bolts press on the cylinder head from all sides, so that the center of the cylinder head is bent upward. In the case of the bottom plate wall of the cylinder head, the deformation of the upper arc causes the fire contact surface to be compressed and the water contact surface to be pulled. Its effect is the same as that of thermal stress. The stress generated by the gas is expressed as σc.

2. installation stress

The pre-tightening force applied to the cylinder head by the cylinder head bolts is a multiple of the maximum explosive force of the gas on the bottom of the cylinder head to ensure reliable tightening and sealing. Under the action of preload force and support force, the cylinder head also tends to bend in the center top arc, which also puts the bottom wall of the cylinder head under compression and exposes the cooling water side to tensile stress. The preload stress is proportional to the preload force and is the static stress represented by σj. If installed incorrectly, large numbers will be displayed.

How to reduce cracks in the cylinder head?

1. the cylinder head bolts should be tightened evenly and the oil delivery time should be adjusted properly.

2. soft water should be added to the water tank, and the water should be changed as little as possible.

3. the diesel engine should avoid working under overload for a long time.

4. when the engine is running and the water tank is running low occasionally, do not turn off the flame immediately, but add water slowly at low speed. Do not add cold water when the engine is hot, and wait until the water temperature has dropped below 40 °C before draining the water after shutting down. In the cold winter season, you cannot add boiled water immediately, but you should heat the water and add boiled water first.

5. Check if the cooling water openings are clear during installation. Clean the cooling system regularly with alkaline solution to remove lime and oil in time.

The cylinder is an important part of the diesel engine, and the wear of the cylinder should be minimized to improve the performance and life of the diesel engine.

What could cause the cylinder head wear?

(1) The new or overhauled engine is put into operation without strict break-in test run, which leads to premature wear of the cylinder head and other parts.

(2) Long-term overload operation. Long-term overload operation of the engine causes the engine temperature to rise, the lubricating oil becomes thinner, and lubrication becomes poor, accelerating the wear of parts such as cylinder liners, pistons, and piston rings. In addition, due to the increase of oil, the decrease of inflation coefficient, the imbalance of fuel and air ratio, incomplete combustion and the increase of carbon deposits on the cylinder head and other parts, cylinder failure is caused, accelerating the early wear of the cylinder.

(3) Long time idling. When the engine idles for a long time, the engine temperature is too low, the lubrication is poor, the combustion is incomplete and many carbon deposits are formed, accelerating the early wear of the cylinder. In addition, due to the low temperature of the engine, acidic substances are easily generated in the cylinder head, which corrode the cylinder, produce pitting and flaking, and cause early wear of the cylinder.
