What are the characteristics of a cylinder head?

The cylinder head is equipped with intake and exhaust ports, valve seats, valve guides into the hole, also with cooling water channels and lubricating oil channels on the cylinder head of gasoline engines with spark plug holes, diesel engine cylinder head with injection holes.

What do we need to consider when installing cylinder heads?

The cylinder head mainly contains the engine's air distribution mechanism. It includes the camshaft, valve oil seals, valve guides, valve springs, valves, etc. The front end of the camshaft has gears that are connected to the crankshaft by a timing belt (or timing gear). The engine crankshaft passes through the belt (or gears) to synchronize the camshaft and achieve the accurate opening and closing of the intake and exhaust valves, realizing the working stroke of the cylinder intake, compression, combustion and exhaust. The head gasket is used to seal the cylinder head against the body, and the three are fastened together with special head bolts. A torque wrench is used to tighten the head bolts, and the bolts are tightened gradually in a specific sequence. When the bolts are tightened with different torques. Normally, the cylinder gasket is flushed by the looser bolt. So when installing the cylinder head, make sure to follow the procedure and tighten the bolts in the same order and with the same torque. This can be done with the help of an adjustable torque wrench. The torque is preset and reaches the torque that slips by itself.

What are the characteristics of a cylinder head?

The main function of the cylinder head is to seal the cylinder to form a closed space so that the piston can compress the fuel and gas mixture normally to produce power.

The cylinder head has a complex composition, including intake valve seat hole, exhaust valve seat hole, valve guide hole, spark plug fixing hole, intake pipe, exhaust pipe, camshaft bearing hole and so on. The cylinder head is generally made of gray cast iron , alloy cast iron or aluminum alloy, it is a complex box-shaped part. According to its structure type, cylinder head can be divided into monolithic, block type and monoblock type.

What are the components of cylinder head?

cylinder head is a box-shaped part with complex structure. It is machined with intake and exhaust valve seat holes, valve guide holes, spark plug installation holes (gasoline engine) or injector installation holes. The cylinder head also contains cast water jackets, intake and exhaust ports, and part of the combustion chamber or combustion chamber. If the camshaft is mounted on the cylinder head, the cylinder head is also machined with cam bearing holes or cam bearings and their lubrication channels.

The cylinder head of a water-cooled engine has an all-cylinder type, a block type and a monoblock type with three structural shapes. In the multi-cylinder engine, all cylinders share one cylinder head, then the cylinder head for the whole cylinder head; if all two cylinders have one cover or three cylinders have one cover, the cylinder head for the block type cylinder head; if each cylinder has one cover, then for the monoblock cylinder head. Air-cooled engines are monoblock cylinder heads.
