What is the working situation of Cylinder Head?

The main function of the Cylinder Head is to seal the cylinder, which forms a common combustion space with the piston and withstands the action of high temperature and high pressure gas.

  • Why pay attention to the anti-corrosion of the Cylinder Head?

  • What is the working situation of Cylinder Head?

  • What are the ways to prevent various types of cylinder blocks and Cylinder Heads from cracking?

Why pay attention to the anti-corrosion of the Cylinder Head?

Cooling water for cooling Cylinder Heads etc. is usually an electrolyte solution containing acid ions such as SO4-- and CI-. The cooling surface of the Cylinder Head has a potential difference due to various reasons. In the electrolyte solution, the anode with lower potential will corrode. For example: in cast iron materials, the potential of iron is lower than that of iron carbide; the potential of the tensile stress and tensile deformation parts is also lower than that of the compressive stress deformation part; the potential of the parts with less oxygen in the cooling water is also lower; so these The metal in the part will be subject to electrochemical corrosion. Under static stress, the corrosion will cause pitting where the material is lost. The installation of anti-corrosion zinc blocks can effectively reduce the electrochemical corrosion. Under the pulsating mechanical stress, the pits become the stress concentration and become the source of fatigue cracks. When pulsating stress and electrochemical corrosion work together, the lattice slip zone is corroded, resulting in a significant decrease in the fatigue strength of metal materials. This phenomenon is called corrosion fatigue. High-temperature gas also has a strong chemical corrosion effect on the bottom surface of the Cylinder Head.

What is the working situation of Cylinder Head?

The function of the Cylinder Head is to seal the gas, form a combustion space with the piston, and withstand the effect of high temperature and high pressure gas. The working condition of the Cylinder Head is:

(1) The Cylinder Head is subjected to high temperature and high pressure gas, and bears a large bolt preload, resulting in large mechanical stress.

(2) The structure of the Cylinder Head is complex, and the temperature field is seriously uneven, resulting in large thermal stress, which may cause cracks and overall deformation of the Cylinder Head in severe cases.

Therefore, the design requirements of the Cylinder Head are

(1) It has sufficient rigidity and strength, and has small working deformation to ensure sealing.

(2) Reasonably arrange the combustion chamber, valve and air passage to ensure the working performance of the engine.

(3) Good manufacturability, the temperature field is as uniform as possible, thermal stress is reduced, and thermal cracking is avoided.

What are the ways to prevent various types of cylinder blocks and Cylinder Heads from cracking?

1. Before starting the diesel engine, warm water should be added to the water tank. In severe winter, hot water should be poured 2~3 times. It is better to start when the water flowing out of the drain valve is about 30~50℃.

2. When the diesel engine runs for a long time, wait for about half an hour after stopping, and then put the cooling water when the engine temperature drops to 40~50℃. After the water is drained, it is best to use a thin wire to poke the switch of the drain valve to prevent sediment from blocking the drain valve.

3. When the diesel engine is overheated and seriously lacks water, let the diesel engine idle for 10-15 minutes at low speed, and then slowly add cooling water.
